Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS CLASS LIKE?
The class is fun, relaxed, soulful, uplifting and musically infused. It is a sacred space in which we all come together in a circle and be our authentic selves as we share the joys and challenges of our pregnancies and motherhood. The yoga practice is holistic including flowing yoga postures (asana), breathing practices (pranayama), deep relaxation (savasana), mantra and meditation as well as discussions and readings on the yogic lifestyle and yoga philosophy.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?
Yoga mats, block and straps are provided. If you like to use your own yoga mat, feel free to bring it along. Please bring a cushion and a shawl or blanket.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO CLASS?
Go right ahead and wear whatever you are most comfortable in.

I'VE NEVER PRACTICED YOGA BEFORE- I’M A BIT SCARED!
Don’t worry! Classes are designed to support you so that you can choose a level that makes you and your baby feel good. Options abound, so you can be gentle with yourself or go deeper into the physical postures- depending on how you are feeling on the day. Lots of the women who come along have never done yoga before or haven’t practiced for a while so you’ll be in good company. I love diversity and warmly welcome women of all backgrounds, orientations, ages and, shapes.

WHEN IS IT SAFE TO START YOGA DURING PREGNANCY?
I advise that you wait until you have reached your second trimester (12 weeks) until starting Yoga for Pregnancy. This allows time for your body to settle into pregnancy and fingers crossed, for the worst of the morning sickness to pass!

HOW LONG CAN I PRACTICE YOGA FOR DURING PREGNANCY?
The practice is perfectly safe for you and your baby to practice as long into your pregnancy as you would like to come. Lots of mothers say the practice helps keep them relaxed, centred and focused in the lead up to birth.  In fact, many women who attend come along right up to, on (and even past) their due dates.

DO I NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT ANY HEALTH CONCERNS BEFORE PRACTICING?
Yes. I’m particularly interested in knowing if you have a low lying placenta, high or low blood pressure or cervical stitches. Please ask your GP/Obstetrician whether it’s suitable for you to practice yoga, and follow his/her advice before you come to class.

WHAT IF I NEED TO LEAVE MY PHONE ON OR LEAVE EARLY?
You can keep your phone on silent next to you. You can also leave early if you need to; just let me know before class starts so I can facilitate this.

CAN I EAT/GO TO THE LOO DURING CLASS?
Yes! There is even access to a loo from our room.  Feel free to do whatever you need to do to be a comfortable and content ☺

WHEN IS IT SAFE TO START YOGA AFTER BIRTH?
Whenever you feel ready, after your 6 week check up.

CAN I BRING MY BABY TO CLASS?
Sure! It’s totally up to you whether you bring your baby (up to crawling age) or come along alone for some ‘you’ time. If you do bring your baby, you’ll get to experience a beautiful practice and share this with your baby. You’ll probably also spend some time changing, feeding or settling your baby, and that’s very welcome too.

WHAT IF MY BABY CRIES?
Go right on ahead and change, feed or cuddle your baby in class at any time, as much as you want to. If your baby is still unsettled and you feel it would be of benefit, it’s absolutely fine to take a stroll outside and come back in whenever you feel ready.

CAN I ATTEND CASUALLY?
If you’re not sure whether you would like to commit to the course, you are welcome to book casual attendance to try out your first class. Also, if you’re nearing full term of your pregnancy, you’re welcome to attend casually.

IT'S THE MIDDLE OF A SERIES- CAN I STILL JOIN CLASS?
Yes, where there is a vacancy, you are very welcome to join for the remainder of the series.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS IN THE COURSE?
If you know in advance that you won't be able to attend all of the classes in a course, please let me know at the start of the course so that you pay only for the classes you attend. However, if you miss a class without notice at the start of the course and you have already paid for the course there are no refunds provided, but  you are welcome to make up this class in the next series .
